In this section:
At Whitwick St John the Baptist, History develops children's chronological knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history, establishing clear narratives within and across the periods they study.
Our History curriculum is based on the outcomes set out in the National Curriculum Programme of Study for History We have developed our own scheme of work for History. We have developed this scheme of work alongside local experts, as we believe it supports our vision, values and whole school drivers and ensures the subject is taught systematically and progressively.
A copy the national curriculum for History can be found below.
At Whitwick St John the Baptist, we believe that through History children learn from their past to understand their future.
Our pupils are able to start understanding the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
