Lunch Club

Our lunch time club is offered to ALL children attending Pre-School and is available Mondays to Fridays, 11.30am-12.15pm.Parents provide a packed lunch for their children when they drop them off in the morning and a named member of staff will not only sit and supervise the children, but use this time to encourage communication and social skills, as well as looking at healthy eating. Lunch club is a good opportunity to get the children used to eating lunch together, which can be of particular benefit to those due to start school. And as children often feel more relaxed when surrounded by their friends who are engaged in the same activity, can also aid the children who parents may feel are ‘picky eaters’. It also gives the children the opportunity to expand their ‘self-care’ as they are encouraged to unpack their boxes and be as independent as possible, whilst staffs ensure they still get support and help when needed. Children attending just mornings can extend their session and be picked up at 12.15pm and children attending just the afternoon session can arrive with their lunch at 11.30am instead of 12.15pm.

In this way we are trying to be as flexible as possible for all our parents, but please don’t feel obligated to sign up for these sessions, they are just another option for the care of your child should you wish it.

As part of our ‘being healthy’ approach to teaching and in keeping with school policy could we ask that sweets be left for home treats and not part of your child’s lunch. The school also has a ‘no nuts’ policy, so we ask that these be avoided in children’s lunch boxes.
